The museum, located in the vicinity of the Roman amphitheatre (1st-2nd century AD), houses archaeological material of the prehistorical era to the Roman period: on the ground floor there are displayed 6th and 5th-century BC funerary sculptures, clay fragments from a 5th-century temple's pediment. Remarkable Roman finds: mosaics, a marble altar dating to the Augustan age, urns. It also houses a collection of Etruscan and Roman coins, utensils, statuettes, coloured mirrors, and a collection of "coralline vases", pottery made in Arezzo from the 1st century BC to the 1st century AD.
